Reproduce it, trace it to the actual cause instead of the symptom, fix it, and leave a note explaining what happened so it doesn't come back.
What I do
Three kinds of work
Most of what I get hired for falls into one of these. All three usually mean walking into a codebase I didn't write.
Add the feature
Integrate new functionality into an application that's already running and already has users, matching the conventions that are there rather than fighting them.
Move it to something modern
Transition aging applications onto current frameworks — Laravel, Next.js — in steps small enough that the site keeps working the whole way through.

Freelance Full Stack Web Developer
Upwork & direct clients · Remote
Designed, built, and improved web applications across the whole stack — PHP and Laravel on the server, React and Next.js on the front, MySQL and Postgres behind both.
Most engagements were inherited codebases: identify and resolve bugs, integrate requested features, and migrate legacy applications onto modern frameworks without disrupting live users.

Front Desk Agent & Manager on Duty
Hospitality · Eminence, MO
- Run nightly audits, producing detailed financial reports across three departments and verifying accuracy before they reach leadership.
- Count, reconcile, and prepare daily cash totals for bank deposit.
- Serve as Manager on Duty overnight — sole responsibility for operations, safety, and security of the property.
- Handle guest inquiries, incoming calls, and emergency alarms including fire alerts, calmly and by procedure.

- Worked hot and cold lines through lunch and dinner service under time pressure.
